Sister Mary Myra Kerley

Funeral services were held Thursday December 4, 2014 at Saulters Moore Chapel in Prentiss for Sister Mary Myra Kerley, RSM, A Sister of Mercy, age 96, who passed away peacefully at Catherine McAuley Convent in Barling Arkansas on November 29, 2014. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Father Peter Varghese and Deacon Bob Everard officiated. Pall bearers were: Paul Terrell, Rodney Terrell, Jeffery Terrell, Donald Jeauno, Tony Geiger and Jared Terrell Sister Mary was born on December 27, 1917 in Bassfield, MS and was baptized Cecelia Margaret Kerley. She was the daughter of John Louis Kerley and Mary Vincent Hathorn Kerley. Sister Mary Myra entered the Sisters of Mercy community at St. Joseph Convent of Mercy in Webster Groves, MO on May 18, 1945 and made her Final Vows on August 16, 1951 in Webster Groves, MO. She received her B.S. at Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, TX in 1961. Her Ministry included teaching, in the schools in TX, LA and MS from September 1955 to June of 1986. Sister retired at McAuley Convent in Vicksburg, MS and then moved to Our Lady of Wisdom in December of 1999. After hurricane Ike in 2008, she moved to Catherine’s Residence in St. Louis, MO and then to Catherine McAuley Convent in Barling, AR in 2009. She is survived by her nephews, James O’Rourke Terrell of Gretna, LA. Paul Terrell of Mandeville, LA. Jerry Terrell of Baton Rouge,LA. John Terrell of Baton Rouge, LA and her niece Rosemary Jeauno of Lacombe, LA. Online condolences and a guest registry are available at www.saultersmoorefuneralhome.com.
