Catherine Turner

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Prentiss for Catherine C. Turner, age 77, of Prentiss, MS who died on November 17, 2008 at her residence. Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 from 4:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss. Mrs. Turner was born in Benton, MS on March 7, 1931, the daughter of Walter N. Cole and Sophia Rusche Cole. She was a secretary with Farm Bureau for fifteen years and also worked with the County Welfare Office for several years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Altar Society and the Women’s Club of the church. She was Treasurer for the Run for The Roses, Jefferson Davis County Relay For Life and the Longleaf Trace Birthday Challenge. She enjoyed working with 4-H, numerous hobbies and crafts, and making cakes. She is survived by her children--daughter, Rachel Sumrall and husband Greg of LaFayette, GA; daughter, Neice Logan and husband Frank of Lexington, OH; son, Mike Turner and wife Darlene Hemby of Bossier City, LA; son, Stuart Turner and wife Liz of Monument, CO--her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Shelley & Derek Donaldson of Macon, GA; Taylor Sumrall of Carrollton, GA; Tina and Jeff Bittner of Ontario, OH and their children Kylie, Wyatt and Dylan; Joe and Heather Logan of Lexington, OH and their children, Cameron, Kelsey, and Kindall; Kaylene and John Bowden of Bossier City, LA and their children, Layla and Alex; Drew and Theresa Turner of McKinney, TX and their child, Kylie; Cole Turner, Jake Turner and Emma Turner all of Monument, CO--a brother, Nathan Cole and wife, Shirley of Canton, MS--a sister, Frances Johnston of Yazoo City, MS-- numerous nieces and nephews and a wonderful extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Obie L. Turner and a sister, Rita. A memorial scholarship in honor of Mrs. Turner is being established with Run for The Roses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catherine Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 51, Prentiss, MS 39474.
