James Earl Berry

November 10, 1925 — July 19, 2016

Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel, Prentiss, MS for Mr. James Earl Berry, age 90, of Monticello, MS who passed away at his residence on July 19, 2016. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements. Rev. Thomas Thurman and Rev. Ron Reaves officiated. Pallbearers were Little Wayne Bass, Brandon Fortenberry, Zack Berry Zane Berry, Walter Warren and Ted Warren. Mr. James was born November 10, 1925 in New Hebron, MS. He was the son of Milton Berry and Mildred Little Berry. He was a WWII Marine Veteran who participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands and the Occupation of China. He received the good conduct medal and was a rifle expert. He was a field supervisor for southern Natural Gas for 37 years. He lived in Prentiss for a number of years and was a member of Monticello Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, David Berry of Sumrall, MS; Three Daughters, Debbie Fortenberry of Silver Creek, MS, Darlene Herbert and Dorothy Berry both of Monticello, MS; Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mattie Lois; one sister, Shirley Warren. Online condolences and a guest registry are available at www.saultersmoorefuneralhome.com.
