Mavis Evans

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Mt. Olive, MS for Mrs. Mavis Evans, age 97, of Prentiss, MS who passed away March 11, 2017 at her place of residence in Prentiss. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Rev. Trent Sullivan officiated. Pallbearers were: Brian Evans, Daniel Evans, Wade Evans, Joseph Gatewood, Kenneth Evans and Bobby Harless. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled all arrangements. Mrs. Evans was born October 16, 1919 in Simpson County, MS. She was the daughter of Jasper T. Jones and Addie Gray Jones. She was a homemaker. She was a very active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Evans is survived by her son, Billy Evans (Mary Alice) of Prentiss; two daughters, Janice (James) Gatewood of Prentiss and Rita Cliburn (Mansil) of Harrisville, MS; twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; one sister, Oneida Daughdrill of Ocean Springs, MS and one brother, Aubrey Jones of Casada, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; one son Jimmy, seven brothers, two sisters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter.
