Annie Laura Sherman

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Laura Sherman will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, January 15, 2024, at New Hebron United Pentecostal Church with interment following in the church cemetery.  The Reverend Cliff Hilton will officiate, assisted by Reverend Jessie Givens.  Mrs. Sherman, age 77, was surrounded by her family at her home in Shivers, MS, as she went to be with Jesus late Wednesday night, January 10, 2024.  Saulters Moore Funeral Home, Hughes Funeral Service, LLC, has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends Monday, 2 hours prior to the funeral service, beginning at 11:00 until the hour of service at 1:00 PM at New Hebron United Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Sherman will be carried to her final rest by those serving as Pallbearers; they include Garrett Beard, Gatlin Beard, Drew Pruitt, Chandler Pruitt, Justin McNamee and Chess Thornton.

Annie Laura Sherman was born on November 13, 1946 in Jefferson Davis County to Garland and Susie Laura Griffith Lee.  A homemaker, Mrs. Sherman was a woman of love and devotion to her family.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and they brought immeasurable happiness to her life. 

She especially looked forward to Thanksgiving, when all of her family would gather in.  Her table, filled with family favorites including Chocolate Pies, Blueberry Pies and Cathead Biscuits, was a place of abundant joy where laughter was in great supply and memories were made.

In her later life, her family relates that, although she had attended church for several years, she began to feel a drawing in her soul that was only satisfied when she obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to Acts 2:38.  Her experience of repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name and the infilling of the very Spirt of God in her soul remarkably changed her life.  A lady that had been known as somewhat shy and reserved now had the overflowing of joy from her innermost being; a joy so great that the Apostle Peter declared it to be “unspeakable”.  From that point in her life, Sister Sherman became a dedicated vessel of God and a student of the Bible, daily seeking out the Unsearchable Riches of His Word.  She was so dedicated in her quest to know her Savior on such an intimate level that she read her Bible through several times.  Sister Sherman was a devoted member of New Hebron United Pentecostal Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Susie Laura Lee.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 55 years, Shelby Sherman of Shivers; 3 daughters, Rhonda (Bradley) Beard of Jayess, Tanya (Justin) McNamee of Shivers, Connie (Drew) Pruitt of Magee and her 3 brothers, Johnny (Shannon) Lee of Prentiss, Larry (Sandra) Lee of Brookhaven and Alton (Sharon) Lee of Florida.  The legacy of their Mawmaw will also live on through her grandchildren, Morgan (Chess) Thornton, Garrett (Erin) Beard, Chandler Pruitt, Gatlin Beard, Maura Pruitt, Shelby McNamee and her great-grandchildren, Lincoln Beard and Hadleigh Thornton.
