Betty Coulter

February 13, 1944 — February 17, 2021

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021, at 3:00 PM at New Hebron Cemetery. Betty Coulter (1944-2021) passed away on Wednesday, February 17, at the age of 77. Janie Winscott will officiate. Saulters Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Betty (1944-2021) grew up in Old Hebron and graduated from New Hebron High School. She then attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College for one year before marrying Wiley Coulter in 1963. Over the years, they had four children: Teresa, Harrell, Dawn, and Stacey. Betty worked with Wiley at Coulter’s Cleaners for more than forty years; however, without a doubt, she would say her most important job was being a mother. She was a devoted mother who loved her children tirelessly and unconditionally. She cherished spending as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She valued her family and made every holiday an occasion for everyone to be together whether for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, or Fourth of July. She also made every family member’s birthday a cause for celebration, bringing the family together to share a meal, cake, and gifts. She kept these traditions alive in the family even in the hardest times. Music was always an important part of Betty’s life. She played the organ for Bethany Baptist Church, played piano for the children’s choir at Prentiss Baptist Church, and for many years, she enjoyed playing piano for the senior adult choir at Prentiss Baptist. At home, Betty loved to read, most recently all the novels of Jan Karon. She also loved writing; she spent time composing essays and short stories, along with stacks of journals containing her daily thoughts and prayers. Betty was a faithful member of Prentiss Baptist Church for over forty years; she loved her church and her church family, including her Sunday school class, Bible study group, and senior adult outings. Betty valued spending time with her dear friends. Betty is preceded in death by her father and mother, Wilson and Delma Daughdrill, her oldest daughter, Teresa, and her husband, Wiley. She is survived by her brother, Roy Daughdrill, sister-in-law Gerry Daughdrill, and her children, Harrell, Dawn, and Stacey; daughters-in-law Bridgett Coulter and Julie Phillips; and son-in-law Reuben Harvey; her grandchildren Cheyenne Coulter, Kayla Dunn (m. William Dunn), Symon Kellum (m. Tayler Kellum), and Jackson Harvey; and her great-grandchildren Calvin McKnight, Elyza Kellum, and Maverick Dunn. Betty was a soft-spoken woman with a deep love for her family, her church, and the Lord. She was deeply loved by family and friends, and she will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Online condolences and a guest registry are available at www.saultersmoorefuneralhome.com
