Carolyn S. Jones, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, was born on December 10, 1935, in Silver Creek, Mississippi, to N.A. “Nutchie” and Kathleen Johnston Sandifer. A lifelong resident of Lawrence County, Carolyn grew up with deep roots in the community she loved.
She graduated from Co-Lin High School and continued her education at Co-Lin Junior College before attending The University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.
Carolyn spent many years working alongside her husband on their farm. She embraced the hard work and simple joys of farm life and took great pride in the home and family they built together. She was especially known for her love of gardening and flowers. Her gardens reflected the beauty, care, and patience that characterized her life.
Above all else, Carolyn’s greatest passion was her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved and found her greatest joy in their happiness. Her warmth, devotion, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, N.A. “Nutchie” and Kathleen Sandifer; her husband, James W. Jones; and her grandson, Brett Crabtree.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her son, Jimmy Jones (Amy) of Silver Creek; and her daughters, Debi Miles of Sturgis, and Sandra Jones of Ridgeland. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Will Jones, Brooks Crabtree and Emma Jones.
