With deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we honor the
memory of Mary Catherine McGee, who passed away peacefully at the age of
89 in Bothell, WA.
Born in Meridian, MS, Mary Catherine grew up in Jackson, where she attended
Byram High School before continuing her education at Mississippi College.
It was there that she met her beloved husband, Jimmy McGee, with whom she
shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered
on faith, love, and service to others.
Catherine dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as an
Elementary School Teacher, instilling kindness, curiosity, and a love of learning in
countless children. Alongside her husband, she faithfully served in
ministry at several churches throughout Mississippi, touching the lives of
many in Old Silver Creek, New Hebron, Arcola, Greenville, McComb, Grenada,
and Monticello. Their journey eventually led them to retire in Prentiss,
MS, where they embraced a quieter life while continuing to inspire those
around them.
Beyond her professional and ministry work, Catherine and Jimmy embarked on
a remarkable adventure together, exploring the beauty of the country
through their shared love of camping and travel. They proudly visited all 50
states, creating countless cherished memories along the way—each journey
deepening their appreciation for nature, culture, and the bonds of family.
She was a devoted mother to three children: Richard, Randy, and Lisa.
Though Lisa preceded her in death in 2015, Catherine's legacy lives on
through her sons, Richard (Seattle, WA) and Randy (Portland, OR), her five
grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren—all residing in the Pacific
Northwest.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mamie Sansing, her
brother Richard Sansing, her husband Jimmy McGee, and her daughter Lisa
McGee. She is survived by her loving sister, Margie Keeling, and her
devoted sons, Richard and Randy McGee.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at Brady
Cemetery, reuniting once more with those she loved so dearly.
Mary Catherine's kindness, unwavering faith, and dedication to her family
and community will forever be cherished. Her warmth, wisdom, and spirit
will remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
Rest in peace, Mary—you are loved beyond words.
