Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, beginning at 9:00 am until the hour of service at 1:00 pm at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Mr. Anderson will be carried to his final rest by his grandsons, Mark Ralls, Craig Williamson, Jonathan Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Josh Burch, Brett Williamson, Dustin Williamson, and Braiden Sappington.

Cecil G. Anderson was born on August 11, 1939 in Jefferson Davis County to Hulon Edgar and Annie Maude Hudson Anderson. Cecil graduated from Bassfield High School, where he played on the Yellow Jackets football team. Following high school, he enrolled at Pearl River Junior College. His career was distinguished by several years as a meat inspector with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture. Later, Mr. Anderson embraced public service in a greater capacity, being elected as the Circuit Clerk for Jefferson Davis County, a position he honorably served for over two decades. His leadership extended beyond his professional responsibilities; he was a Past Master of the Mt. Carmel Lodge #453 of the Masons, and a past member of the Prentiss Lions Club, reflecting his dedication to fraternal service and community ethics. Mr. Anderson was also a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, hosted the monthly Bible studies, and was always available for anyone who had a need, whether it was in the church, family, neighborhood, etc. He was a true servant of the Lord. He loved to quote scripture and talk freely of his love and relationship with his Lord. The medical team that cared for him during the last three weeks of his life told his family that they'd never had a patient that spoke of Jesus Christ more often than he did.

Cecil Anderson’s passions were deeply rooted in the simple yet profound joys of life. He took pleasure in gardening and everything related to farming, delighting in time spent with his tractor and farm implements. His love for gospel music was ever-present, but above all, his greatest pride and joy came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was deeply involved in their lives, taking genuine interest in all their activities and milestones.

Mr. Anderson’s life was a testament to service, faith, and family. He leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by those who knew him for his steadfast character, his commitment to community, and his nurturing spirit.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vivian Anderson; his son-in-law, Robert Johnson; and his siblings, Kelton Anderson, John L. Anderson, Joyce Martin, and David Anderson.

His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Debbie Thompson (Timmy) of Clara, Darla Williamson (Ronnie) of Sumrall, Carolyn Johnson of Hattiesburg, Beth Burch (Jeff) of Mize, Marti Anderson of Bassfield; brothers, Kermit Anderson (Jeri) of Hattiesburg, Eugene Anderson (Carlene) Sumrall, Hershel Anderson (Jo) Columbia, Danny Anderson (Cathy) of Hattiesburg; 14 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
