Charles Wayne Reid was born on December 6, 1951, in Jefferson Davis County to Zeno Charles and Arlene Robbins Reid.
Charles began his career in automobile repair at Perry Jones Garage in 1974, where he devoted 19 years before acquiring the garage in 1990. Under his ownership, he moved the business to Carson and established Charles' Auto Repair, where he built a solid reputation for his dependable work. His career also included employment at Griffith Tire, where he worked for several years.
In 2000, Charles was elected as Jefferson Davis County Supervisor for District 2, a role he embraced with service and responsibility for 24 years until his well-earned retirement. His contributions to the county had a positive impact, reflecting his dedication to public service and the betterment of Jefferson Davis County.
An avid sportsman, Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a profound love for riding horses and looked forward to taking them on trail rides in the mountains with friends twice a year. Charles was appointed to the Rails to Trails Board in 2004, where he served 19 years. His love for horses was acknowledged in 2017 when the Rails to Trails Board named the Equestrian Trailhead in his honor, the Charles W. Reid Equestrian Trailhead, after nearly two decades of service on the board. Mr. Reid was a member of Carson Baptist Church.
Without reservation, however, his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved following them in their sports endeavors, from baseball and football to volleyball and show choir, always cheering them on with immense pride.
Charles Reid is a shining example that Godly men dedicated to their Lord, family, and community still exist.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Liz Reid of Carson; his daughter, Jennifer Reid Golemon (Steve) of Moselle; his sons, Ashley Wayne Reid (Toni), and Corey Charles Reid (Ty), both of Carson; a sister, Cherill Rogers of Carson; his grandchildren, Ashtyne Reid, Tristen Reid (Meagan), Reid Golemon, Katelyn Reid, Mackenzie Golemon, J.T. Reid, Haylie Reid, Kipten Reid; his great-grandchildren, Millie Reid, Collins Reid, and his nephews Scotty Daley, and Quinn Daley.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Arden Hospice for their dedication to them during this difficult time.
