David Lane

Funeral services for Mr. David Lane will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at New Hebron Baptist Church with interment following in the New Hebron Cemetery. Reverend Gene Douglas will officiate, assisted by Reverend Andy Fullington, with Brother Chad Douglas leading the service of worship. Mr. Lane, age 72, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord on Friday morning, August 15, 2025, in New Hebron.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m. at New Hebron Baptist Church.

David will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, including Stan Morgan, Ricky Sills, Don Sills, Bo Stephens, Easton Trigg, and Chad Douglas.

David was born on October 23, 1952, in Hinds County, MS, to David Herman and Virginia Tuggle Lane.

David dedicated many years of his career as a plant operator for American Cyanamid, where he was respected for his work ethic and commitment. However, it was his passion for music that truly resonated within him and left an indelible mark on those around him. Renowned as one of the best bass guitar players around, David found joy during his high school years at New Hebron playing guitar for the band "Purple Fox." His musical talent brought happiness not only to his own life but also to friends and audiences who were fortunate enough to experience his performances. During his high school experience, David was also a drummer in the marching band and played football.

An important chapter of David's life began when he moved to the New Hebron community in the 8th grade. It was here that he forged a lifelong bond with his best friend, Stan Morgan, creating a friendship that would stand the test of time.

Beyond his many talents, David was also known for his character. He embodied what it meant to be a gentle man, ministering kindness and meekness to everyone he encountered. This spirit shone brightest even during his illness, where his caregivers noted the profound impact of his polite nature and gentle demeanor. David will also be remembered for his nurturing spirit, which shone brightly in his cherished role as caregiver to his beloved wife, Brenda, during her extended illness, proving that true love is demonstrated not just in grand gestures but in the daily acts of kindness and selflessness.

David’s faith played a significant role in his life as well. He was a devoted member of the Shalom Baptist Church, where he served as the worship leader for an impressive twenty years. David will be remembered as a remarkable man whose legacy of kindness, friendship, and musical talent will be cherished by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.

David is preceded in death by his parents, David and Virginia Lane, and his wife, Brenda Lane.

His memory will forever be cherished by his step-daughter, Katherine Wickstrom (Guy); step-son, Lee Crisswell, (DeDe); his sisters, Linda Stephens (Bo), Brenda Douglas (Gene), and 5 grandchildren.
