Interment will follow in the Whitesand Cemetery. Mrs. Bass, age 78, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord late Tuesday night, October 13, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Friday, beginning at 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at 2:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bass will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including Mitchell Bridges, Curt Bass, Ronnie McNease, Wayne Bass, Jerry Harper, and Barry Banes.
Diane was born on January 31, 1948, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Shelby Toxie and Essie Wheat Hall. Following her high school graduation, Diane began dating John Brelon, and after a whirlwind courtship of just 90 days, she and J.B. married and moved to Prentiss, where they raised their family and shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Diane will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. Her grandchildren were her absolute delight, and she treasured every opportunity to be involved in their lives. Whether it was band concerts, basketball, baseball, or soccer games, her grandchildren could always count on Nana being on the sidelines, proudly cheering them on.
Diane also cherished the special friendships she shared with Nita McNeese, Tommie Speights, Peggy Shivers, Tena Bass, and Pat Harper. Whether it was their Tuesday lunch outings or their annual fall "girls' trip" to Gatlinburg, these dear friends shared countless laughs and made wonderful memories that will forever be treasured.
Her family holds fond memories of their annual beach trips to Gulf Shores, where games of Scrabble and Yahtzee with their mother and grandmother were always part of the fun. Diane also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing the piano.
Above all, Diane loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and found great joy in serving Him through Whitesand Baptist Church. She faithfully served on the Hostess Committee, the Grounds Beautification Committee, and wherever else she was needed. Diane had a true servant's heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, quietly demonstrating her love for the Lord through her service to others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her step-mother, Marie Hall; and her step-sister, Gwen Pendergraff.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, J.B. Bass of Prentiss; her daughters, Melissa “Missy” McNeese (Roger) and Christie Odom (Ronnie), both of Brandon; her son, Jay Bass (Lisa) of Prentiss; her sister Donna Coleman (Phil) of Loranger, LA; her step-sister, Colleen Brady, of New Orleans, Louisiana, and her step-brother, Wayne Heitzmann of Bay St. Louis. The legacy of their Nana will also live on through her grandchildren, Shelby McNeese Britt (C.J.), Reagan McNeese Jasper (Jared), Mackenzie Odom, Jacob Odom, Ansley Bass; and a great-granddaughter, Mollie Charlotte Britt.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brittany Hooker and Charlene Easterling for the compassionate care they gave Mrs. Bass.
