"Dot, as she was called by the many who loved her, was born on January 12, 1951, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Burlin H. and Matilda Rebecca Cowart Chisholm. Dot was raised in the Hattiesburg area and attended school in Petal. She married the love of her life, Jim, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years. 2 children were added to this union, and many happy memories were made as they built a home based on love and their faith. Dot had a compassionate heart and worked as a private sitter for many years, nurturing and attending to the elderly. Her family lovingly recalls that Dot was a "Jane" of all trades. From crocheting and cooking, sometimes crazy concoctions, to even racing cars, there was no task too great or challenging for her to try and master. She also enjoyed color-by-number pictures, word puzzles, and her cat “HeShe”. One of Dot’s greatest joys in life was seeing all of her grandchildren born and showering them with love. She lived by the motto: “Live life to the fullest! Don’t take life so seriously, enjoy life!” Mrs.Miles was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jim Miles; her son, Troy Allen Miles; and her brother, Jerry Chisholm.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Kaneese Bridges (Brad); her sisters, Fredna Corley, Judy Corley, Kathy Terrell (Vernon), Ruth Walley; her brother, Pete Chisholm (Connie); her grandchildren, Dustin Miles, Toby Norris (Anna), Michael Miles, Jessi Carballo; and her great-grandchildren, Manny Carballo, Ryleigh Carballo, and Lynleigh Miles. Mrs. Miles also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
