Graveside services for Mrs. Elizabeth Clyde Blackmon Jones will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday morning, December 5, 2022, at Dublin Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 42 in Prentiss. Mrs. Jones, age 91, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord late Wednesday night, November 30, 2022, at the Merit Health-Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. The family will receive friends Monday morning, December 5, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Elizabeth Clyde Blackmon Jones, known to friends and family as Betty Jones, was born to Lillie Mae & Clyde Blackmon on September 13, 1931, at their home on Blackmon-Creel Lane in Jefferson Davis county, Mississippi. She married her childhood sweetheart, Kenneth Manton Jones in 1950. Together they traveled the world as part of the US Navy, were blessed with three sons, and later returned to Columbia, Mississippi to settle for the rest of their days. She was only parted from her sweetheart in 1999 when he passed away. Miss Betty was the secretary at Jefferson Middle School in Columbia for over 20 years, where she touched the lives of the students for her entire career. After retiring from this position she put her boundless energy into creating a family tree farm on the land where she was born. Miss Betty loved God, gardening, traveling, making friends, and serving her family. Her life adventures in retirement also included walking the Great Wall of China, visiting the rainforests of Costa Rica, and climbing Machu Picchu in Peru. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lillie Mae Blackmon; brothers, Billy Ray Blackmon, Stephen Darryl Blackmon and her sister, Charles Ruth Smith. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Barry and Theresa Jones of Madison, MS, Scott and Theresa Jones of Stuarts Draft, VA and Craig and Li Mei Jones of Alpharetta, GA and her brother, Larry Neal Blackmon of Collins, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren Skye and Danny Hurley of Atlanta, GA; Graham Allison of Tulsa, OK; Jesse Forney of Lemoyne, PA and Colin Forney of Sunbury, PA. Her many dear friends and family will miss her humor, care, and advice. In her final year of life she was cared for by four lovely Angels, Letty Hayes, Sheila Aultman, Darlene Stalans and B.J. Dyess. Love and gratitude to you all for taking such good care of our precious matriarch. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Dublin Baptist Church or Columbia City Schools.
