Private graveside funeral services for the family only, for Ethel Ray Butler will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Phalti Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Butler passed away from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Magee. Reverend Billy Bridges will officiate. Pallbearers will be Darrell Welch, Bill Slack, Jared Slack, Trever Slack, and John Amery Darden. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ethel Ray Butler was born January 12, 1931 in Clem to John Ethel Butler and Susie Lee Butler. Mr. Butler was a retired from Prentiss Creosote Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Phalti Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife of 62 years, Margie Hall Butler; and a brother, J.W. Butler. Mr. Butler is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Slack (Bill) of Kathleen, GA, and Mary Welch (Darrell) of Magee; 3 grandchildren, Trever Slack, Jared Slack, and Danielle Darden; 3 great-grandchildren, Bryant Slack, Samuel Slack, and Jeb Ray Slack; and 3 sisters, Hazel Bridges of Prentiss, Irma Mae McInnis and Inez Hall, both of Mt. Olive; and 1 brother, Vernon Butler of Mt. Olive; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Phalti Baptist Church.
