Obituary

Graveside services for Mrs. Eva M. Broom will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Society Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Tom Jackson officiating. Mrs. Broom, age 90, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord on Thursday evening, June 18, 2026, at the Riggs Manor in Raymond. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Eva Mikell Broom was born on July 25, 1935, in Jefferson Davis County to Charles Hamilton and Lucille Nelson Mikell. Following their marriage, Eva and her husband, Hulon moved to Jackson, where they made their home and raised their family. A devoted wife and mother, she was deeply committed to her family. Her children fondly remember coming home each evening to a home-cooked dinner prepared with love and care.

Mrs. Broom dedicated 29 years of service to McRae’s Department Store, working in Accounts Payable.

Known for her competitive spirit and joyful nature, Eva loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing dominoes with her sisters and sharing laughter and good times together. Mrs. Broom was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hulon Broom; siblings, Kathryn Turner, Tressie Shivers, Jack Mikell, and Mary Armstrong.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her sons, Doug Broom (Cheryl) of Ridgeland, Danny Broom (Rebecca) of Madison; 2 grandchildren, Candace Blaha, Camille Gilbert, and 5 great-grandchildren.
