Funeral services for Mrs. Fran Lane will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Prentiss Cemetery with Reverend Andy Fullington officiating. Mrs. Lane, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Landmark of Ridgeland. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been enrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lane will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, including Robby Adams, Paul Adams, Brady Adams,Taylor Lane, Parker Lane, Jake Lane, Brayden Lane and Payton Lane.

Born July 10, 1939 in Prentiss, MS to Felder and Lou Polk, she was the youngest of 5 children who all have preceded her in death.

Fran skipped her senior year at Prentiss High School and began taking college courses at the University of Southern Mississippi at 16 years old. She married Howard Lane in August of 1958 during her senior year at USM and graduated the following spring when she was 19.

She and her young family lived on the campus of Oak Grove school where she taught 3rd grade while Howard coached and taught science in high school.

They moved to Gulfport for a short period of time and then moved back to Prentiss in 1965. Fran taught 3rd and 4th grade at Prentiss High School.

In 1970 she and Howard were instrumental in building and establishing Prentiss Christian School where she taught 4th grade the remainder of her career.

They were blessed with 4 amazing children, 13 grandchildren, and 10+ great grandchildren.

Fran has made many close friends through the years and attended Prentiss Baptist Church her entire life where she was baptized, married and raised her 4 children. She was everybody’s mother and the constant teacher. She would “Let” you do things like sweep the floor or do the dishes! It was always an honor if she “let” you do a task. And, everyone remembers her favorite story about Shep the dog!

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, (Felder and Lou Polk), her sisters and brothers (Liz Brinson, Georgia Faye Blanton, John Jennings, Bobby Joe Jennings), her beloved husband of 53 years,(Howard Lane), and her middle son ( Rickey Lane).

She leaves behind her daughter Lisa Adams (Rob), Mickey Lane (Sonya), Stephen Lane (Kristal), and Rickey’s wife (Allyson). She also has 13 grandchildren and 10+ (one on the way) great grandchildren.

She has been blessed with a long life with family and friends that adore her. She has been a matriarch of our family and is always teaching and sharing her wisdom. Even in her last days, she was quick to say “I love you”! She was a Christian and tried to live her life as the Bible instructed.

Heaven has a new angel and I’m certain she was welcomed with open arms. Until we meet again mom, we will always love you and keep your memories forever in our hearts.
