Funeral services for Mr. Gary Dorman Bailey will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025, at First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, MS, with the Reverend Greg Frazier officiating, and the Reverend Hansel Stanley assisting.
Interment, with full military honors presented by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard, will follow at the Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery in Pineville, MS, at 3:30 pm Thursday.
Mr. Bailey, age 81, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord Monday morning, August 4, 2025, at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Community Living Center in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning at First Pentecostal Church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
Gary will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, including Glenn Sechler, Jason Sechler, Don Bailey, Trevon Sechler, Edward Bailey, and Dallas Little.
Gary was born on October 17, 1943, in DeRidder, LA, to Garnett Shelton and Nancy Elizabeth Lindsey Bailey. A proud veteran, Gary served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the United States Postal Service and began his own business, building water features. He also loved hunting, gardening, and playing the bass guitar. Gary was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, where he served in the music department playing the bass guitar. He also served in the bus ministry, being the bus captain of the bus "Happy Day Express". In addition, he also sang in the choir and ran the sound system. Gary loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He made an indelible mark while on his journey here and will be missed by the many people who called him friend.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sisters, Liliene Bailey Smith and Dianne Bailey.
His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 50 years, Zelda McNeil Bailey; son, Dustin Wade Bailey (Ashley); daughter, Lori Bailey; sister, Elizabeth Sechler; brother, Don Bailey (Rose), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The legacy of their Poppa will also live on through his grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Hadley Bailey, Chase Bailey, and Steele Bailey.
