George Brett Speights, age 62, passed from this life on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

There will be a memorial gathering at the Speights' home at 1280 River Road, Oakvale, MS on Saturday, November 7, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

George Brett Speights was born on February 17, 1964, in Kenner, Louisiana, to Alfred Lynn and Paula Sanders Speights. Affectionately known as “Brett” to his family and many friends, he was a graduate of Bonnabel High School in Kenner, where he enjoyed playing both baseball and football.

Following his graduation in 1982, at the age of 18, Brett began what would become a lifelong career in the natural gas pipeline industry. For more than four decades, he worked as a self-employed contractor, building natural gas pipelines for major oil companies in locations around the world. His work was a testament to his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to take on new challenges.

Away from his work, Brett enjoyed the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, but he held a special passion for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. However, the open road was always a little sweeter when he was sharing it with the love of his life, Debi. Their many adventures together began nearly 24 years ago on their honeymoon, when they toured the state of Florida on their Harley. That memorable journey was only the beginning of countless miles and cherished memories made together. Through the years, Brett and Debi enjoyed attending H.O.G. rallies across the country, exploring new destinations, and simply enjoying the freedom of the open road together. Brett was a member of Oakvale Baptist Church.

Brett will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to his work, and, above all, the love he shared with his family and those closest to him. His was a life filled with hard work, memorable journeys, and the joy of sharing life's adventures with the ones he loved.

Brett is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Paula Speights; his brothers, Johnie Lynn and Jeffrey Speights, and his granddaughter, Bailey Lynn Speights.

His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of nearly 24 years, Debi Speights of Oakvale; his children, Joshua Speights (Jessica) of Madison, Jenna Gardner of Florence; Stefani Romanyak (Michael) of Buffalo, NY; his nephew, Lance Speights (Melissa) and their children, Aubrey and Pike, all of Ponchatoula, LA; and his his grandchildren, Addylynn, Clifton, Lanie, Toni, Betty, Keely, and Tripp. Brett also leaves behind his best friend since their youth, Larry Torbert and his god-children, Nicole, Austin, and Dakota, all of New Orleans, LA.
