Graveside services for Mr. Gerald Westmoreland will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Pinola. The Reverend Earl Clark will officiate. Military rites will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Mr. Westmoreland, age 82, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord Saturday evening, July 19, 2025, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Spring Hill Cemetery beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Gerald Westmoreland was born on August 27, 1942, in New Hebron to George A. and Fannie L. Stephens Westmoreland. Raised in the Shivers community, he was a graduate of New Hebron High School, where he played basketball. After graduating from high school, Gerald enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served in the Vietnam War. He retired after more than 20 years of service at the Stuart C. Irby Company, where he served as Warehousing Director.
Gerald will especially be remembered for his woodworking skills. For many years, he took pride in building his gazebo-style birdhouses, which he sold at many craft shows and flea markets throughout the region. Mr. Westmoreland was a member of Shivers Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Fannie Westmoreland; his wife, Carolyn Westmoreland; his sister, Joyce Lee; and his sister-in-law, Evelyn Westmoreland.
Mr. Westmoreland is survived by his daughter, Helen Robbins of Tupelo; sons, Gerald Westmoreland, Jr. (Tammy) of Petal, Robert Lee Westmoreland (Beth) of Prentiss, Wayne Westmoreland (Sandra) of Florence; step-daughter, Dena Klein of Slidell, LA, and his brothers, Larry Westmoreland of Anniston, AL, and Kenneth Wayne Westmoreland (Glenda) of New Hebron. The legacy of their ‘Papa Wes’ will also live on through his 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
