Harry Bertram McCleave, III, age 81, of Brandon, MS went to be with the Lord at Merit Health Rankin Hospital on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was the son-in-law of the late Thedis Chance of Prentiss.

Bert, as he was affectionately known, had battled non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for the past 27 years. In 2017 he was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease and passed away due to complications of that disease.

Bert was a graduate of Murrah High School in Jackson and attended Louisiana State University. He graduated from Mississippi State University where he majored and received a Bachelor of Science degree in landscape architecture.

In the early days of his professional career he worked for both private and public sector clients in the design of planning of subdivisions, parks, housing complexes, shopping centers, golf courses, historical redevelopment projects, commercial facilities, and residences. He also authored and co-authored studies on land planning, urban beautification, community and regional planning, central business district redevelopment programs, open space planning, and water quality management products. His later career consisted of the landscape and design of swimming pools.

Bert loved his church, First Baptist of Jackson, and served as an usher and a greeter for many years, health permitting.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Bertram McCleave, Jr. and Ila Ford McCleave. He is survived by his wife Sheila McCleave, his three children Christopher Lee McCleave (Stacy), Russtin Frazier McCleave (Jessica) and Allyson McCleave Soldani (Tony), and five grandchildren, Emma Soldani, T.J. Soldani, Sophie McCleave, Norah McCleave, and Cian McCleave. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Donna Frazier McCleave Perkins.
