Carson, Mississippi Funeral services for Mr. Henry Clay Bayles will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in the Chapel at Saulters Funeral Home. Mr. Bayles passed away from this life on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home in Jefferson Davis County.  The Reverend Robert Sones will officiate and Mr. Kayron Berry, Ms. Kaelin Berry, and Ms. Patricia Williams will perform the musical service. Interment will be in the Dublin Baptist Church Cemetery.Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Matt Bayles, B.J. Berry, Greg Berry, Buddy Taylor, Wes Green, and Doug Bayles. Henry Clay Bayles was born on May 15, 1925 in Carson to Samuel M. Bayles and Commie Mae McKenzie Bayles. After marrying June Berry Bayles in 1950, the couple moved to Florida in 1953, where Mr. Bayles worked for C.C. Carpenter Farms as a tomato farmer. Mr. Bayles returned to Prentiss in 1971, founding Carpenter-Bayles Farms, raising corn, soybeans, and cattle. Mr. Bayles was a decorated WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served with distinction in the Pacific Theater. After WWII, Mr. Bayles continued his service in the Aleutian Islands. Henry Clay Bayles was a crew member on board the USS Canfield at the official surrender of the Japanese Empire and the subsequent peace treaty signing on September 2, 1945. Mr. Bayles was a member of Dublin Baptist Church. Preceding Mr. Bayles in death were his mother and father; 4 brothers, Fred Bayles, Clyde Bayles, Cecil Bayles, and Sam Bayles; and 2 sisters, Helen Bayles Ward and Eva Bayles Burns. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, June Berry Bayles of Carson; 2 sons, David Henry Bayles of Carson and Michael Berry Bayles (Rhonda) of Prentiss; 2 daughters, Diane Bayles Myers (Tommy) and Connie Larayne Bayles, all of Carson; 5 grandchildren, Karen Myers Taylor (Buddy), Kelli Bayles Green (Wes), Matthew Michael Bayles (Brittany), Sarah Michelle Bayles, and Amy Delores Myers; 4 great-grandchildren, Lilly Taylor, Daisy Taylor, Rosey Taylor, and Colton Cheeks; 1 sister, Billie Bayles of Monroeville, AL; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am until 12:00pm at Saulters Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends desiring to do so are asked to make memorials to Dublin Baptist Church, 5626 Highway 42 Carson, MS 39427.
