Graveside services for Mr. Jerry Randal Dyess will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Greens Creek Cemetery with Brother Herman Smith officiating. Mr. Dyess, age 79, passed away late Monday evening, August 3, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Family and friends are invited to gather just prior to 4:00 PM for the graveside service.

Mr. Dyess will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including  Toby Foshee, Lane Foshee, Zetta Foshee, Billy Ray O'Quinn, William Smith, and Ricky Dyess.

Jerry was born  on April 8, 1947 to Reggie and Zetta Mae Dyess. He lived his entire life on Candy Lane in the Greens Creek Community, and  graduated from Bassfield High School in 1965, followed by attending Pearl River Jr College.

During the Vietnam War, Jerry enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska where he received awards for excellent marksmanship as a member of the competition shooting team. After returning home, he served several years in the local National Guard. Jerry (Judge Dyess ) was elected and re-elected for several terms as Justice Court Judge in Jefferson Davis County. Following his judgeship, Jerry spent his time hunting, fishing, and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. Anyone that knew him, knew he loved the chance to debate most anything, but his true passion existed in all things concerning firearms. Jerry spent countless hours re-loading ammunition, building firearms, and shooting targets. Jerry professed his faith in Christ as his Savior, and attended Greens Creek Church while he was physically able.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Reggie and Zetta Mae Dyess.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his sister, Frances Dyess Foshee (David), his nephew, Toby Foshee (Jane), his niece Jody Foshee and her children, Zane, Zetta, and Zaylin Foshee, along with numerous extended family and friends.
