Joe G. Buckley was born on June 1, 1945, in Tylertown, Mississippi, to Lynn and Eloine Sandifer Buckley. A lifelong resident of Prentiss, Joe worked for the Illinois Central Railroad and retired as a Conductor after over 20 years of service. Afterward, he worked as a Parts Manager for Heritage Chevy-Olds and also as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for SCCI. Aside from his career, he and his late wife, “Pete” enjoyed showing horses and going to rodeos in their younger years. Joe's daughters meant the world to him, and his grandson, Brady, was his pride and joy!
Joe will be remembered as having many friends in the community. He especially enjoyed his early morning coffee crew at Wards, and with the advent of social media, he loved keeping up with his friends on Facebook. Mr. Buckley was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda “Pete” Buckley, and his sister, Lynda Harris.
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Lynn Scallorn (David) and JoAnna Pierce (Andy); his grandson, Brady Pierce; and his brother-in-law, Wayne Harris, all of Prentiss. Mr. Buckley also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
