John Robert Daley, Sr. was born on January 6, 1952, in Carson to Floyd Thomas, Sr and Verda Mae Aultman Daley.
John devoted over 40 years of his career as a Rig Superintendent with Diamond Offshore, demonstrating unwavering commitment and expertise throughout his tenure. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his deep love and appreciation for his family and friends.
Having grown up in the close-knit community of Bassfield, John graduated from Bassfield High School, where he often looked back fondly on his days as a football player.
John's warmth and generosity were hallmark characteristics of his personality. He and his wife Martha were known for their open-hearted hospitality. Their home was a haven filled with laughter, love, and joy, enriching the lives of many who had the pleasure of entering their doors. It was not unusual for people to enter the lives of John and Martha Daley as a friend, only to become like family in a short amount of time.
His children fondly recall the installation of a swimming pool at their home. It became a cherished memory for John and his family, making it the gathering spot for all the Bassfield kids, as well as their parents. Their home was a testament to the life they built together, overflowing with affection and cherished moments.
John proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. In addition, he was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Bassfield.
An avid sports fan, he relentlessly cheered for the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and took immense pride in his yard.
Family meant everything to John. His love extended beyond his immediate relatives, embracing his mother and father-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved as if they were his blood kin. This unique bond was a testimony to the kind-hearted man John Daley was.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his infant brother, William Patrick Daley.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Martha Daley of Bassfield; daughter, Connie (Kelvin) Simmons of Columbia, SC; sons, John Robert, (Shelly) Daley, Jr. of Bogue Chitto, Clayton (Annie) Daley of Marietta, GA; daughter-in-law, Hope of Hattiesburg; sister, Linda McNeese of Pearl; brother, Floyd Daley of Hattiesburg, and a special friend who was like a brother, Willie Ard of Carson.
Mr. Daley also leaves behind his grandchildren, whom he adored; they include Lauryn, Xavier, Lamareo, Amare, Amya, Cain, Essence, Kameron, Clayton, Emmy, Jordan, and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jasiah, Marley, and Thomas.
