The family will receive friends on Friday evening, September 18, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at 10:00 am until the hour of service at Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Holloway will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including Scott Daughdrill, Gary Wheat, Todd Fillingim, Albert May, Joe Cox, and Jerry Cox.

John Larry Holloway was born on December 19, 1947, in Lawrence County, Mississippi, to Henry Grayson and Kathryn Allene May Holloway. He spent several years of his childhood and youth in Germany while his father was stationed there with the United States Army. Afterward, his family relocated to Leesville, Louisiana, where he spent his senior year in high school.  After graduating Leesville High School, he attended Co-Lin Junior College and Mississippi State University before enlisting in the United States Navy.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he married the love of his life, Martha Daniel. The happy couple settled in Silver Creek, Mississippi, where they built their life together and raised their family. Mr. Holloway began his career with St. Regis Paper Company and retired nearly 40 years later as a Process Control Engineer with its successor, Georgia-Pacific.

Mr. Holloway will be remembered for his keen and inquisitive mind. A natural thinker and problem solver, he enjoyed quizzes, puzzles, and anything that challenged him to reason through a problem. He was fascinated by emerging technology and was among the first in his community to own a computer. Always eager to learn, Mr. Holloway taught himself not only how to use the computer, but also how it worked.

Beyond his love of technology, he enjoyed woodworking in his shop and playing golf. Mr. Holloway was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Allene Holloway.

His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Martha Daniel Holloway; his daughter, Lori Holloway Gargus (Danny) of Brandon; his son, Daniel G. Holloway (Adria) of Los Angeles, CA; and one granddaughter, Ranger Holloway.
