Graveside services for Mr. Larry McPhail will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 7. 2026 at Calvary Cemetery in Silver Creek, with the Reverend Terry Wallace officiating. Mr. McPhail, age 66, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026, at the Lawrence County Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Mr. McPhail will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as pallbearers. They include Joshua Turnage, Marshall Daley, Clifton Stapleton, Hunter McPhail, Joey Wrenn, and Brandon McPhail. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Richard Leuer.
Larry was born on April 12, 1959, in Jefferson Davis County to Thomas Edward and Ottie Delancey McPhail. Larry's career was marked by varied roles that reflected his hardworking nature. He spent several years working offshore in the oil and gas industry, and he also worked as a truck driver. One of his favorite jobs was driving a school bus for Lawrence County Schools and Prentiss Christian School; he especially enjoyed this because of his love for kids.
Larry will be remembered as a man of many interests and hobbies. In addition to hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed his horses, riding motorcycles, and drawing. Mr. McPhail was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Turnage McPhail; and his brother, Dale McPhail.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Rose Green of Silver Creek; step-daughters, Candace Cook of New Hebron, Beth Herring of Oak Vale; step-son, Josh Turnage (Christy) of Silver Creek; sister, Stacy Stapleton (Clifton), brothers, Thomas L. McPhail (Charlene) and Timmy L. McPhail (Lisa) all of Prentiss.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Maryssa Grimes, Marygail Turnage, Joshua Cooper Turnage (Zoey), Laylonnie Grimes, Delilah Collins, Elizabeth DeLaughter, Everleigh DeLaughter, Levi Tracy, Dominic Welch, Isla Welch; and his great-grandchildren, Charlie Turnage, and John Turnage.
