Laura McCormick Hamilton was born on October 15, 1946, in LaGrange, GA, to Glover and Lula Mae Shiflett McCormick. Mrs. Hamilton, a native of LaGrange, GA, had lived in Scott County for many years. She was especially treasured by her family and friends, with whom she created countless precious memories, notably during their fun-filled “Girl Trips” to Destin and various other locations. A faithful member of Morton United Pentecostal Church, Mrs. Hamilton exemplified a life of service, devotion, and faith. Her family fondly recounts her enjoyment in picking blueberries, along with her enthusiasm for shopping—activities that brought her much happiness. Yet, the simple pleasure of sitting on her porch, reading her Bible, truly defined who she was.
Above all, Laura’s greatest passion centered around her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and her role as a grandmother was one she embraced wholeheartedly. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, serving as a lasting reminder of the beautiful impact she made on their lives.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah McCormick, Grace Rugg, Sharon Mitchell; and brothers, Earl McCormick, Billy McCormick, and James McCormick, Sr.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Tina Robbins (Duwaine) of New Hebron; sons, Bobby Gene Womble of Lena and Tracy Edward Womble of Seattle, WA; brothers, Charlie McCormick, James McCormick, both of LaGrange, GA, and Sonny McCormick of Roanoak, AL, The legacy of their Grandma and Great-Nana will live on through her grandchildren, Nicholas Owen Tracy, Jacob Alan Tracy, Shane Womble, Salena Womble, Nichole Williams, Tricha Womble and her great-grandchildren, Lenox Tracy, Oliver Tracy, Hayven Tracy, Hayes Tracy, and Levi Tracy.
