Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Courtney Pennington will be conducted from the Chapel of Saulters Moore Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 with interment following in the Bassfield Cemetery. Reverend Ken Roberts will officiate, assisted by Rev. Andy Mullins. Mrs. Pennington, age 80, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Friday morning, September 25, 2026, at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, beginning at 9:00 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pennington will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including Jeff Hudson, Alton Courtney, Tim Courtney, Brian Courtney, Scott Courtney, and William Bass. Phil Hudson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Linda was born on September 1, 1946, in Jefferson Davis County to Vardaman and Elma Bullock Courtney.  She was a true Southern lady whose life was defined by family, faith, home, and the simple joys that make memories last a lifetime. Linda grew up in Bassfield and attended Bassfield High School, where she proudly served as a majorette in the band. She later made her home in Prentiss, where she raised her family and spent many years as a homemaker. Later in life, she became active in the real estate business, working as a broker, realtor, and appraiser. She also spent many years in the mobile home business.

She was a devoted wife and mother, but it was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her the greatest joy. Linda had a special way of making every one of them feel like they were her favorite. She was their beloved Mimi—the fun Mimi whose house was always the place they wanted to be. There were summer days spent swimming in her pool, laughter that seemed to go on forever, and the kind of childhood memories that stay with you long after you grow up. Linda loved being there for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether it was a soccer game, a ballgame, a graduation, a wedding, or simply an ordinary day. She celebrated their accomplishments, cheered them on, and made sure they always knew how proud she was of them. 

She also loved decorating for every season and had a gift for making her home feel warm, welcoming, and beautiful.  Her favorite times of the year were Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. Family came through her doors, food filled the table, stories were shared, laughter rang through the house, and everyone left feeling more loved.

She enjoyed painting and found special companionship in her beloved dogs. Linda was also a great cook - her potato salad and dumplings were favorites that will be remembered for years to come.

Linda Pennington lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, family, and countless blessings. She was a wife, a mother, a Mimi, a friend, a homemaker, and a woman who knew that the best things in life were meant to be shared. Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so fiercely and the memories she made with them. Mrs. Pennington was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vardaman and Elma Bullock Courtney; her sister, Betty Hudson, and her brothers, David Courtney, and Jack Courtney.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved most including her husband of 33 years, Glenn Pennington of Prentiss; her daughters, Tami Polk Evans of Prentiss, Angie Polk Sullivan (Don) of Florence, and Robin Polk Montpelier (Larry) of Brandon. Her legacy will also live on in her grandchildren, Lindsay Barnes (Patrick), Courtnay Evans, Ragan Busby (Tyler), Ali Bobo (Matt), Rylee Adcox (Jonathan), Hayden Smith (Brandon) Blake Montpelier (Lexi); 11 great-grandchildren; and an expected great-grandchild.
