Mack Matthews

Funeral Services for Mack Matthews will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Matthews, age 56, passed away from this life on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his residence. Reverend Gene Douglas and Dr. Jerry Durr will officiate and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Scott Taylor, Eric Welch, Dillon Crawford, Mike Rowe, William Carter, Curt Fletcher, Melvin Brown, and Craig Priest. Luther Mack Matthews was born on August 27, 1964, in Hazlehurst to Douglas McArthur Matthews and Johnnie Ruth Kees Matthews. Mr. Matthews was the Operations Manager for The Mississippi Food Network, where he worked for over 30 years. Mr. Matthews was also a Poultry Farmer and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Preceding Mr. Matthews in death were his father, Douglas MacArthur Matthews, and his step-father, James W. “Jimmy” Jennings. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Trish Matthews; 1 son, Brody Matthews; his mother, Johnnie Jennings; 1 sister, Nancy Matthews Welch (Robin), all of New Hebron; 3 nieces and nephews, Kacy Welch Baggett (Andrew), Eric Welch, and Julie Sherman Knight; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Saulters Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Thursday from 10:30 am until service time at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
