Funeral services for Mrs. Marsha Rowland Rogers will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tom Jackson officiating. A joint inurnment service for Dr. and Mrs. Rogers will be held at Old Silver Creek Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Rogers, age 83, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord on Monday evening, July 13, 2026 at St. James Place Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, July 17, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Saulters Moore Funeral Home. Friends may also call Saturday morning, from 8:00 am until the hour of service.
Marsha Rowland Rogers was born on August 21, 1942, in Prentiss, MS to Norman Littleton and June Lanell Fortenberry Rowland.
Marsha grew up in Prentiss, where she graduated from Prentiss High School as the salutatorian of her class and served as the yearbook editor. She also proudly represented her hometown in the Miss Hospitality Pageant.
Following high school, Marsha attended Belhaven College, where she earned a degree in music. She shared her love of music with countless students during her many years as a music teacher at Tensas Academy. Her faith and musical gifts were also evident in her service to the church. She directed the youth choir at First Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Louisiana, and found great joy in playing with the handbell choirs at University Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and Prentiss Baptist Church.
Marsha also had a special gift for making life more beautiful. She had a deep love for plants and gardening, creating beauty wherever she lived, and she was an outstanding cook whose meals brought family and friends together. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, generous nature, and the love she shared through her music, hospitality, and quiet acts of service.
A faithful member of Prentiss Baptist Church, Marsha lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched and in the cherished memories of all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Larry Rogers, and her daughter, Jennifer June Rogers.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her son, Matt Rogers (Ginger) and her grandson, William Andrew Rogers, all of Baton Rouge, LA. She also leaves behind her brother, Norman Rowland of Prentiss.
