Mary Ann Ashley

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Ann Ashley will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Shivers Cemetery with the Reverend Earl Clark officiating, assisted by the Reverend Andy Fullington. Mrs. Ashley, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Monday morning, June 9, 2025, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Family and friends will begin gathering at Shivers Cemetery at 10:30 Thursday morning.

Mary Ann was born on January 18, 1950, in Century, Florida, and was raised in the Shivers Community. A proud graduate of New Hebron High School, Mary Ann was a majorette, proudly cheering the Golden Bears. After high school, she attended Co-Lin Jr. College in Wesson. She loved her family immensely and was a homemaker for many years. In addition, she also did secretarial work, but her greatest fulfillment came when she began working as a phlebotomist at St. Dominic Hospital and Mississippi Blood Services. Mary Ann had several interests, which included playing piano and collecting antiques. Additionally, she possessed excellent culinary skills. Her family holds fond memories of the delicious dishes she prepared, including her dressing, fried chicken, and lace cookies. A lover of all types of music, she was especially fond of Elvis Presley. Mary Ann was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Annie Shivers Smith.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, Glen Ashley of Hazelhurst; her daughters, Kelly Thompson (Jon) of Skiatook, OK, Ashley Richard (Mark) of Homestead, FL, Kendra Husk (Lee) of Crystal Springs, Cristy McNabb (William) of Brandon, and her sons, Matt Sanders (Julie) of Brandon and Ken Ashley (Scott) of Hattiesburg. Her grandchildren will also cherish the legacy of their Nonnie, Jaiden Thompson, Laurel Sanders, Evan Walker Thompson, Jordan Fitzhugh, Emily Husk, Jacob Husk, and her great-grandchildren, Jack, Lucas, and Julie Kate.
