Mary Garner Daley was born on October 8, 1950 in Jefferson Davis County to S.J. and Sarah Hartzog Garner.  When Mary’s children were young, she enrolled in the Pearl River Community College and earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Dedicated to serving others, she worked diligently at several hospitals and clinics including Slidell Memorial and the medical clinic in Prentiss as well as a home health agency.

Mary was not only kind and nurturing, but she also had the heart of a servant.  From helping her husband, Floyd found the very first softball and t-ball league in Jefferson Davis County to volunteering at her children's schools while they were coming up, Mary was always happy to give of herself.  Her son remarks that his mother made their home a place of comfort and laughter and that the welcome mat was always out for friends-no matter how many, nor the time of day.  In addition, her community-oriented spirit shone through over the years as she hosted countless get-togethers and parties for family and friends. When they lived in Katy, TX, Mary became a valued member of the Ladies Club at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church.  Her involvement in the church community further highlighted her compassionate and caring nature.

Alongside her husband Floyd, who worked as an oil and gas operations manager, they were fortunate to live abroad in various places. During their time in Holland, Mary's dedication to service led her to be recognized for her contributions to the American Women's Club. This organization brought together American expatriates and allowed them to engage in educational and service projects while fostering social connections.

Aside from her professional accomplishments, Mary had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. She relished the opportunity for her family to be together.  Her cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, and asparagus casserole were legendary among family and friends. Christmas gatherings at Mary's were filled with warmth, love, and delicious food that brought joy to all.   Mary also found great joy in beautiful flowers and landscapes; her family jokingly remarks that she actually enjoyed the fruits of her husband's labor when it came to yard work.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daley was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Garner and her sister, Patricia Ann Ross.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 55 years, Floyd Daley of Hattiesburg; her daughter, Pamela Daley of Oak Park, IL; her son Chad Daley (Julie) of Celina, TX; a sister, Lydia Bradley of Mozelle and a brother, Steve Garner, Jr. of Carson.  The legacy of the Mawmaw will also live on through her grandchildren, Sarah Mae Fieser, Chase Daley, Grace Fieser, Griffin Fieser and Jackson Daley.
