Obituary

Randy Alan Tolbird, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Randy was born on October 9, 1962, in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, to Melvin Buford and Barbara Ann Burns Tolbird. After graduating from Buras, LA High School, where he was a member of the baseball team, Randy chose to join the family business, proudly working alongside his father at Arrow Excavations, Inc. His dedication and passion for his work led him to continue his career at John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC. Through hard work and determination, he ascended to the role of Dock Manager at the Cameron, LA location, earning the respect of his colleagues and clients alike before retiring.

He will be remembered for his commitment to family, his work ethic, and his playful spirit. Randy's personality shone in every aspect of his life. Known for his fun-loving spirit, he had a knack for bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Fond memories are shared of his playful antics, often teasing family members with lighthearted jokes and pranks, creating countless moments of shared laughter and cherished memories.

He also took immense pride in everything he did, from his profession to his personal interests. A detail-oriented individual, Randy was particularly meticulous about maintaining a clean and detailed car, always ensuring it was equipped with a great sound system. His pride extended beyond vehicles; he took great care of his lawn, a place that his children fondly recall as a sanctuary—one that was off-limits for play and foot traffic, cherished for its perfection. In addition, Randy also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, where he found relaxation and camaraderie among friends. Above all, Randy loved God and was a Christian.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbird is preceded in death by his wife, Suzette Tolbird, and his son, Ryan Joseph Tolbird.

His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Erika Rush (Anthony) of Olive Branch, Catherine Hernandez (Ulysses) of Lafayette, LA; his son, Randy Tolbird, II (Maryanne) of Covington, TN; his brother, Melvin Ray Tolbird of Oakvale; his sisters, Andrea DuBois (Ched) of Camden, TN, Deborah Dawson (Terry) of Whiteville, TN, and his grandchildren, Carrie Rush, Kylie Tolbird, Brenden Taylor Tolbird, and Lynk Hernandez.
