Rev. David Moore

Funeral services for Reverend David Moore will be conducted from the sanctuary of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, with the Reverend Greg Frazier officiating. 

Interment will follow on Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Old Marion Cemetery in Meridian, with Reverend Hansel Stanley officiating.

Reverend Moore, age 74, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, beginning at 5:00 pm until the hour of service at 7:00 pm at First Pentecostal Church.

Paul David Moore was born on February 27, 1951, in Meridian, Mississippi to Benjamin Paul and Edith Buntyn Moore. A graduate of Meridian High School, Brother Moore surrendered to preach the Gospel at an early age, and enrolled in the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi. In 1974, he took the lovely Rita Palir as his bride and to this joyful union, two children would be added.

For over 50 years, Brother Moore, as an ordained minister in the United Pentecostal Church International, preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His commitment to home missions was paramount and he believed that any struggling church could become a vibrant congregation through faith and dedication. During his years of ministry, he served churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Missouri, and also served as a Presbyter, providing guidance and support to fellow pastors.

Even after retiring from full-time pastoring, his commitment to reaching lost souls remained unyielding, immersing himself in prison ministry and inner-city outreach. His life mirrored the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:36, where Jesus said, “I was naked and you clothed me, I was hungry and you fed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison, and you came unto me”.

Despite his failing health, Brother Moore’s spirit never waned. Just days before his passing, he was preaching with the same fervor that had defined his ministry, exemplifying the devotion of a mighty soldier in the army of the Lord.

Outside of his ministry, Brother Moore contributed to his community by serving as an Alderman for the City of Byram for eight years. His dedication to civic duty and community service reflected his deep-seated belief in making the world a better place for all.

One of the greatest passions of Brother Moore was spending time with his family. The laughter and cheers from his grandchildren echoed in his heart, and he took immense pride in being present for each of their milestones, always their biggest supporter. In addition, his fervor extended beyond family as he passionately cheered for his beloved Ole Miss Rebels.

Brother Moore and his wife had been faithful members of First Pentecostal Church in Jackson since his retirement from full time pastoring.

Brother Moore is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Paul and Edith Mae Moore.

His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Rita Moore of Byram; his daughter, Rev. Melissa Cash (Rev. Donald) of Mt. Juliet, TN; his son, Paul D. Moore, Jr. (Stevie) of Vicksburg, and 2 brothers, Bruce Moore (Brenda) of Collinsville, and Larry Moore (Jan) of Florence. The legacy of their Granddaddy will also live through his grandchildren, Rev. Anthony Cash, Julia Cash Williams (Traeton), Nathaniel Paul Moore, and Mercy Moore.
