Roger was born on October 1, 1944, in Columbia, MS to Seabron and Lillian Gibson Hilton. He dedicated 32 years to his profession as a Trainman with the Canadian National Railway, retiring after a career that exemplified dedication and commitment. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and the friendships he built during his time on the rails.

Outside of his career, Roger was fervently passionate about the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who found solace in nature, whether it was casting a line into a lake or exploring the wilderness trails. His love for the outdoors extended to growing a beautiful garden, from which he proudly canned vegetables to share with his family.

He and his wife, Dianne, were particularly fond of spending summers with their grandchildren, creating lasting memories during their annual trips to the Smoky Mountains. Together, they explored backroads of the Appalachian country they had never traveled, taking in the thrill of discovering new locations. Roger loved Cade's Cove, immersed himself in hiking trails, and found joy in the gushing mountain streams, always in awe of the beauty of God's creation.

Before moving to Prentiss, Roger and his wife were devoted members of the Oakvale community. Roger's contributions extended beyond his personal interests. Together with his wife, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Oakvale Volunteer Fire Department, tirelessly working to ensure safety and support within the community. His dedication was evident not only in the contributions made but also in the fundraising efforts, which often included his renowned Fish Frys that drew in friends and neighbors alike. Roger was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Seabron and Lillian Hilton; his sisters, Bonnie Alexander, Merle Moss, and Annie Lee Lain; and his brothers, Clifford Hilton, Walter Hilton, and Roland Hilton.

His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dianne Daughdrill Hilton of Prentiss; daughter, Tanya Hilton Pulliam (Jamie) of Clinton, and his son, Roger Bryan Hilton of Prentiss. The legacy of their Pawpaw will also live on through his grandchildren, Jessica Pulliam, Alexis Pulliam, James Edward Pulliam, III (Raven), and 4 great-grandchildren, Lawson Moore, Maverick Harbour, James Edward Pulliam, IV, and Elizabeth Pulliam.
