February 27, 1933 – February 5, 2026
Funeral services for S. L. "June Bug" Rogers will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with interment following in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The Reverend Terry Wallace will officiate. "June Bug", as he was known by friends and family, age 92, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg MS. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, February 14, from 10:30 am until the hour of service at 11:30 am at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
June Bug will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, including Rodney Rogers, Adam Hall, Steven Bridges, Garrett Mahaney, Ty Langston, and Jacob Shivers. Those serving as honorary pallbearers include Larry Rogers, Mike Rogers, Joe Boggan, David Fortenberry, Gary Cline, and Harold Oatis.
S.L. Rogers, Jr. was born to the late S.L. Rogers, Sr. and Hilda Bozeman Rogers in Prentiss, MS. He was a 1951 graduate of Prentiss High School and served in the United States Army for 2 years. A Crew Leader for Southern Natural Gas Pipeline Company, he retired in 1993 after 38 years of service. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening with his 1953 Farmall Tractor. In addition, he was also an excellent cook and enjoyed quail hunting. Mr. Rogers was an excellent historian and took great pleasure in relating stories, past and present, of friends and family. He was a Godly man of deep and steadfast faith, marked by serving as a deacon for 54 years. He also served as Chairman of the Oak Grove Cemetery Committee for many years.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Grace Luncford Rogers; his parents, and his brother, James R. Rogers, Sr.
His memory will forever be cherished by his 4 nieces, Elaine Bridges, Kathryn Langston (Mac), Joyce Hall, and Nancy Moses (Walt), and nephew, Rodney Rogers (Tiffany), as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; Lucy Mikell and his best friend, and co worker, Joe Boggan, who called him almost every day to check on him.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rogers requested that memorial contributions be given to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, % Greg Bullock, 1014 Oak Grove Road, Prentiss, MS 39474.
