Mrs. Sue Stalans, age 82, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in New Hebron. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at New Life Church of God of Prophecy, in the new church building; 1095 FE Sellers Dr, Monticello, MS 39654.

Lyma Sue Stalans was born on October 20, 1943, in Thomasville, Georgia, to Gilbert Lyman and Edna Sanders Carlton. Sue was born into a military family and lived in several locations throughout her childhood, with Germany being one of her favorite places.

After graduating from high school, Sue enrolled at Co-Lin Junior College, where she received her nursing training and graduated as salutatorian. She was the definition of a nurturing caregiver and spent several years serving others as an LPN at Country Brook Nursing Home and Jefferson Davis Extended Care Facility.

Sue possessed a remarkable gift for working with her hands and could create or repair almost anything with great skill. She will be fondly remembered for her talent as a seamstress, making beautiful clothes for her daughter and grandchildren. Her creativity extended well beyond sewing; she even built her own kitchen cabinets. Sue also enjoyed fishing and treasured the simple pleasures of time spent with those she loved.

One of Sue’s favorite times of the year was Christmas, especially when her family could gather together at home. She went to great lengths to make the occasion special, decorating her home, carefully wrapping gifts, and preparing everyone’s favorite dishes. Her love for her family was evident in all the thoughtful things she did for them.

Above all, Sue’s greatest love was for her Lord and Savior. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she deeply loved her church, New Life Church of God of Prophecy. She faithfully labored for many years in whatever capacity she could find to be of service, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Sue’s life was marked by love, faith, service, creativity, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of caring for others and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Lyman and Edna Sanders Carlton; her beloved husband, Jack E. Stalans, Sr; and her siblings, Gayle Hough, and Faye Miller.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Glenda Roberts of New Hebron; her sons, Joe Stalans (Sharyn) of New Hebron, Jack E. Stalans, Jr. of Silver Creek; her brother, Buddy Lyman Carlton of Alaska; and her sisters, Brenda Kay Carlton of California and Martha Nan Halvorsen of Texas. The legacy of their Granny will also live on through her grandchildren Travis Stalans (Stephanie), Blake Stalans (Jerrica), Greg Stalans, Abby Stalans George (Wesley), Laura Roberts Savery (Malique), and her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alaina, Wyatt, Ayden, and Waylon.
