Funeral services for Sylvia Speights Dyess Ward will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Saulters Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Ward, age 79, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.  Interment will follow at the Greens Creek Cemetery in Carson, MS. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sylvia Katherine Ward was born on March 12, 1940 in Jefferson Davis County, MS to James Arthur “Buddy” Speights and Norween Rutland Speights. Mrs. Ward was a lifetime resident of Jeff Davis County, she received her Associate’s degree from PRCC and then her Bachelor’s from USM. She worked in medical technologies for JD County hospital for 37 years.  She was an Alderwoman for the town of Prentiss. She was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father; Ed Dyess and Richard Ward. Mrs. Ward is survived by two daughters, Traci Langston (Brad) of Hoover, AL and Tara Crechale (Michael) of Raymond, MS; Six grandchildren, Katie Harlin, Brandon Langston, Jessica Barton, Alexandra McFarland, Olivia Crechale and Anastasia Crechale; Three great grandchildren, Whitley Kate, Addie Jane, Bentley and (soon Asher); Three Sisters, Sue Beth Morford of Prentiss, Jan Davis of Hattiesburg and Karen Harger (Dennis) of Bassfield.
