Virginia Berry

Graveside services for Mrs. Virginia Berry will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the New Hebron Cemetery. Mrs. Berry, age 82, passed away from this life on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her residence in New Hebron. Reverend Tyler Chavis will officiate and Teresa Windham will provide the musical service. Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Greg Lee, Chris Lane, Brad Thornton, Greg Jones, Stan Stephens and Albert Fortenberry. Virginia Ann Brinson Berry was born on March 14, 1938, in Jackson to James Brinson and Jimmie Ann Armstrong Brinson. Mrs. Berry earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Mississippi College and later a second Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Mrs. Berry enjoyed a long career as a teacher, first at New Hebron High School and later at Beulah Williams Elementary School in Silver Creek. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her husband of 40 years, Ellis Marshall Berry. Mrs. Berry is survived by her daughter, Shana Lane (Joey) of New Hebron; and 2 grandchildren, Ashlan Ann Lane and Joseph Austin Lane; as well as a host of other relatives, former students, and friends.
