Wendell M. Sullivan, Jr., was born on April 12, 1954, in Atwater, California, to Wendell M. and Blanche Laverne Cox Sullivan. Raised in the Kokomo Community, he was a graduate of West Marion High School. He retired from Gaylord Chemical Company in Bogalusa, Louisiana, where he worked for over 20 years, retiring as a plant operator.
Wendell will be remembered as a man who was a friend to many and who genuinely loved people. His hobbies changed throughout the years, but he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. One of his favorite pastimes was camping with his wife, creating memories and enjoying the outdoors together. He was also well known for trading trucks for the simplest of reasons—sometimes just because he needed a new set of tires or windshield wipers.
Known as “Pops” to his children and friends and “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Wendell’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with the people he loved most. He treasured the moments shared with family and friends and took great pleasure in making lasting memories with them.
Mr. Sullivan was a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Church of God. His kindness, friendship, humor, and love for others will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Wendell is preceded in death by his parents, Wendell, Sr. and Laverne Sullivan.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of over 10 years, Kim Sullivan; his children, Brent (Scarlet) Sullivan, Brian (Traci) Sullivan, Justin (Karie) Bedwell, Kristi (Justin) Loftin, and Eric (Sarah) Lewis; his sister, Diana (Dale) Hudson; his brother, Roger (Donna) Sullivan; and his mother-in-law, Sherrill Reagan. The legacy of their Poppy will also live on through his grandchildren, Gabby, and Lizzie Sullivan, Briley Sullivan, Ella, and Maddox Bedwell, and Sophia, and Madilyn Loftin. Mr. Sullivan also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
