Funeral services for Mr. Willie Albert "Al" Williamson will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Whitesand Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Bowlin and Reverend Wade Mathis officiating. Graveside services will be private. Mr. Williamson, age 87, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, beginning at 9:30 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Whitesand Baptist Church.

Mr. Williamson will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including Terry Mathis, Tim Hall, Eric Hall, Kyle Mathis, Benjamin Mathis, and Matt Scoggin.

"Al," as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was born on October 29, 1938, in Magee, Mississippi, to Fordie and Martha Fortenberry Williamson. He spent part of his childhood in Sanatorium, Mississippi, where, as a young boy, he proudly worked as a caddy for Dr. Boswell. Al attended Magee High School before answering the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17.

Following his military service, Al married the love of his life, Carolyn Wozniak. Together they shared more than 60 years of devoted marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. They made their home in the Whitesand Community of Jefferson Davis County, where they lovingly raised their family and created a lifetime of treasured memories.

Al worked faithfully for many years at Magnetek Industries in Mendenhall, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Outside of work, he found great joy in the outdoors and will be remembered for his love of turkey and deer hunting, as well as fishing.

Above all else, Al's greatest love was his family. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in each of them and treasured every opportunity to be together. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Pawpaw, and to his great-grandchildren, he was affectionately called Pawpaw "Owl"—a name that will forever bring smiles and cherished memories. His gentle spirit, steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. Mr. Williamson was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fordie and Martha Williamson; and his sisters, Beulah McCain, Evora Sprangler, Mary Sue Jones, Ancie Damron, Bobbie Russell, and Lena Boykin.

His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Carolyn Williamson of Prentiss; daughters, Sherry Mathis (Terry) of Mt. Olive, Dona Hall (Tim) of Florence; his grandchildren, Wade Mathis (Rebecca), Eric Hall (Jennifer), Kyle Mathis (Courtney), April Scoggin (Matt), and his great-grandchildren, Abigail Mathis, Benjamin Mathis, Tryston Hall, Nola Hall, Sicily Mathis, Diana Mathis, and Levi Scoggin.
